Fire Alarm Panels and Devices

Description

There are two main types of fire alarm panels: conventional panels and addressable panels. NFPA 72 requires all fire alarm systems, including equipment used for monitoring, to have 24 hours of backup power. If an IP communicator is used for monitoring, the internet equipment must be connected to a backup power supply capable of providing power for a minimum of 24 hours.

Conventional panels and Addressable panels.

The fire alarm control panel (FACP) is the central hub of operations for a fire alarm system. It tells each component what to do and when to do it. If fire alarms were musicians, the FACP would be the conductor.
